Following feedback and consultation the new Ramblers walk leader guidance will soon be shared with all volunteers.

From 15 May onwards, all new walk leaders will need to read and sign up to this guidance, and complete the two learning modules, Walk Leadership Foundations and Preventing and Managing Incidents, before leading a walk.

Publication of this guidance is very opportune as the Plymouth Committee, have been discussing the possibility of also running once again the ‘Walk Leader’ training we delivered a couple of years ago.

We would really like to encourage members who enjoy coming on our walks, be they long or short, and perhaps think “I know of a good walk I wouldn’t mind showing people” to give consideration to becoming a walk leader - we really do need you.

Before we start making any further plans for our own training we would like to gauge whether our members would be interested in undertaking it and in the next couple of days you will receive an email where you can indicate your interest by using the voting buttons.

The offer from us is that once you have undertaken training, if you wish we will look to pair you up with a ‘buddy’ to recce your first walk and to co-lead the walk with you.
