The essentials (You only need to do this once)

Before you can become a registered walk leader and submit walks in Walks Manager, you need to complete some essential steps.

  1. Create an account. See Create a 'My Ramblers' Account'. For more information, refer to Setting up a 'My Ramblers' Account.

  2. Notify the Walks Secretary, who will add you to the Rambler's Volunteer system. You will need to supply your name, the email address you have used to register with the Ramblers, your postcode, and your membership number. Once you have been set up, you will receive an email from Ramblers with details about how to access online training and other support. (Please check your junk/spam folder for this email.)

  3. Complete the online (mandatory) training. See Walk leadership online training . There are three modules that need to be completed: The Walk Leader Handbook, Walk Leadership Foundations and Preventing and Managing Incidents. About 48 hours after you have completed the training, you will be added to Walks Manager.

  4. Update your contact preferences in Walks Manager. See How to update your contact preferences.

Now you are ready to lead a walk!

  1. Plan a walk. For more information, see Getting started as a walk leader , the Walk leader checklist and the Risk assessment checklist.
