Our group is continuing to organise group walks as permitted under the government guidelines. Now that restrictions have been eased, we can carry on as normal with our organised walks, with unlimited numbers and with car-share. However, it is important that each walk leader is comfortable with the way their walk is organised. So if they wish, they may choose to take extra precautions, by setting their own limit on group size, or by asking walkers to book in advance. In this case, the restrictions should be stated in the walk description.
The walk leader is responsible for:
- preparing a risk assessment in advance
- deciding whether to put a limit on the number of walkers
- deciding whether to take bookings for the walk on a first-come, first-served basis
- keeping a register of those on the walk
In addition, all walkers are asked to follow these guidelines:
- Stay home if you have any Covid symptoms, however mild.
- Bring with you a face covering and hand sanitiser.
- Ask the leader if you have any concerns en route.
- Follow the leader’s instructions at all times.
- Enjoy yourself!
