Rhossili 2023
Rhossili 2023 15th - 19th May
Charles G is helping Martin organise a Plymouth Ramblers trip to Rhossili. Martin has reserved the bunkhouse there for 4 nights arriving on the 15th May and leaving on the 19th May. The cost will be £110 pp plus your drinks, the pub meal & your travel.
We all need to take something for a buffet to have the first night together, we will organise a barbecue subject to weather conditions another night and ask for volunteers to prepare a simple meal a third night eg chilli, spag bol or lasagna etc and eat out in a local pub the last night. Milk, tea & coffee as well as bread & spread for breakfasts will be provided.
John has agreed to help lead walks as we would hope to lay on a shorter and a longer one every day
Essentially it will be a first come, first confirmed basis, once paid in full to me subject only to sorting out the room sharing options. Please email Charles
There is a limit in the bunkhouse but there are other options to stay nearby, so don’t delay if you are interested

PLYMOUTH RAMBLERS – CELEBRATING 50 YEARS!
1973 was an eventful year in the history of our island not least because Plymouth Ramblers was launched.
Walking in the countryside has been a popular pastime from the nineteenth century onwards for many people living in towns and cities offering a welcome relief from a polluted environment and the stress of daily life. Obviously things have moved on in many ways but the benefits of getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the countryside with friends remain.
Plymouth Ramblers is well organised and successful; it continues to attract new members to this day. In celebration of our 50th anniversary we have been planning a major event for our members [past and present] and invite you to reserve your place early! The more people that come along the better it will be! It is also an opportunity for you to bring your partners/friends along and introduce them to our friendly group!

Family walk with no children!
In a first for Family Walks, there were only adults on this September ramble. Thanks to the young at heart 'grown up' Ramblers who joined to make it a group of 8 on a beautiful day. We didn't do the river paddling but there was much stile climbing, scrambling, leat walking and tunnel shouting! Hopefully the young Ramblers will be back in full force in October.

Dartmoor Way launch
Here's some information from Trevor Walker:
As you may be aware, an extensive programme has been planned over the next bank holiday weekend, to celebrate the launch of the Dartmoor Way. There will be 18 walks of various lengths, plus 2 special family friendly walks, a family cycle ride and a walk led by the wheelchair access group. These events will run from Saturday 29 April to Monday 2 May, see details in the attached pdf. There will be a booking system for all events and details have now been placed on the Dartmoor Way website at www.dartmoorway.co.uk – click to go to the walking site, click again to view the information page and then again for each day's events. We very much hope you will be able to join one or more of these events and enjoy the magnificent scenery along this new trail.

New Year at Fur Tor
Although the planned Ramblers walk to Fur Tor had to be diverted because of bad weather, a few walkers did make it, including one brave soul who camped out overnight. Thanks to Olwen who was there to take this picture!

Pastures new...
Many of you will remember Viv White who so ably co-ordinated shorter walks for Wednesdays. She has sent news that she and her husband are planning to move to Australia to join their daughter under the "aged parents" scheme. Things will take a while as currently no flights are allowed into Brisbane which is where their daughter is.
We wish them all the best in their new life.
